So, I acquired another betta today, bring my count to (ugh) 10. This one, however was free...My aunt is a city bus driver. This morning, she heads into work, gets her bus for the day, does the usualy checks. In the back of the bus, on the floor, still in his dirty Walmart cup, is a male betta, looking half-dead from the overnight cold. From what she says, she thought he was ALREADY dead. So, she brings him home, and he is now happily residing in my split 5 gallon. The perfect Christmas betta - metallic green body, bright red fins. My nephew has named him Nick (aka Old Saint Nick). Ironic...just when I was considering another trip to the pet store to check out the new delivery, and one is handed to me, from the most unexpected place.
Will try to get a pic of him when I change the batteries in the crappy camera. Just wanted to share my silly lbetta find :)

Thanks! It was definitely a surprise to have here walk in the door and hand me the little cup. There were little pieces of grass floating in his cup..."food" apparently, lol. Makes me wonder how someone could FORGET a fish on a bus.

That's amazing that he survived overnight!! Is it very cold where you live? Congratulations on your new Betta, Nick! I can't wait to see pics!!!

Your luck! You must have do alot of good things this year! Picture next!! :D  :p  :kana:

Well, my horrible photographic skills do him absolutely no justice. Of course, he's better looking in person :p
Our nights here have been about 35 degrees orso, so yeah, pretty chilly - specially for a little fish on an unheated bus :)

But, here he is- what you can see of him :/

He is so sassy, too - flares at EVERYTHING that comes close to him - his yet-unnamed neighbor, bio-gold pellets, the kitten, if it walks by, me.... :) I think I caught him off gaurd...either that, or he decided to finally ignore the camera pushed up against his tank.

Again:

What a lucky fish. It's hard to believe that someone could just forget a fish on the bus. They're not responsible, they shouldn't even be fishkeeping.

Well you definatley need a name for him did the bus have a number.....then its that plus lucky like lucky seven.......

Thanks all :) He's definitely fully of personality :) I'm just glad it wasn't a couple days later thathe's been left (tonite), since none of the busses are running tomorrow. It still amazes me that he WAS left, lol. I wouldn't think that a newly purchased live animal would be something so easily forgotten. I guess that the fish fairy was watching over him....he was probably on the way to live in a vase somewhere :p The aunt brought me home a 10 gallon she bought while out today, after complaints that her kitchen counter was getting taken up by loads of 2.5s...I wonder if she realizes that now I'm going to have to put to use those that are going to be empty after I ready the 10. Foundor bought, it just never ends :)
