This is the Platy (the middle one) I have with a black belly. Does anyone have any idea why it got a black belly?

ps. There'r only two real fish in the picture. Others, just a reflection. :shifty:

Congrats feline, you are going to be a momma soon, that platy is pregnant and will give birth before long. Also what you there appears to be platy/swordfish crossbreeds. Notice the sword extension on your males. Should be some very interesting babies

OMG, a crossbreed fish? I've just started this hobby (obviously with no experience) and now come the babies too ............. I hope the Platy won't give birth so soon.

Btw, what'll be the babies predators as I've got 2 Clown loaches as well ..........

clown loaches would love little fry for meals. the sword tail may not be the daddy though (although swords and platys have been know to cross breed.) how long have you had the platy? live bearers can hold up to 3 months before letting them out and may have come pregnant from the store.

Not to be a smart a** but I think Tanked meant to say that females can hold sperm not babies for three months. Once pregnant they are pretty regular on giving birth after the get happy.
Also the male with the sword in the pic is already a cross breed as he looks more like a platy body wise
