I have created new fotm (fish of the month) and totm (tank of the month) images and will let the users of our forum decide which to go with.
the poll will run until sunday June 1st.

perhaps one could amalgamate the winning picture of each month into the award image

How about including the forum url into the image? Then the winners could use the fotm & totm image in their own personal signatures and on other forums to help promote the site!

I agree with Thomas on this one. I think that the pride and joy of the winner (their winning pic) should be incorporated into the banner. This way they can continue to "Show it off"!

It shouldn't be too hard, after you come up with the format you like then you just cut the pic down to size, and it pretty much should be ok. From my experience its easier to keep the clarity when you reduce than when you enlarge.

That is if you're talking about adding the winning pic from each month.

not much trouble at all. I have it all saved in layers. i could put the text, resized and shaped in any background. takes about 10-30 minutes each

on second thought thomas and allie may be on to something. I don't mind putting the time into this for the forum and i like the button like appearance of the FOTM... B)

Here is one I tinkered with a bit in Fireworks......I'm sure it could be improved a bit but this is along the lines of what I was thinking based on Thomas's idea............
