Take a whole bunch of those marbles out... that's not enough space for him. He needs at least a gallon of swimming space.

I agree, take tons of those marbles out, not only for swimming room, but for cleanliness as well. Even if you do basters and 100% water changes, there is going to be a lot of debris settling in those -_-

It is a pretty set up if it didn't have a fish in it ;)

I agree with them re: taking marbles out. Or better get, get a larger tank to put the betta in. Bettas are unfortunate fishes, often marketed as decorations rather than real living creatures capable of suffering.

:/
Hey all...

Oh gawd... I feel like such a heel...
a target of marketing ploys...

Okay - so I'm going to get a fishbowl just
for Our Gardener, and see how he does.
Just put a lil gravel on the bottom, use aged
water and feed him whenever he is hungry.
I believe I may have it now... I think...

Thank You for everyone's kind help...
wish The Gardener & I good luck.

Happy Holidays All!

Make sure the water stays warm enough... I try to keep mine around 78. Also, make sure the bowl is at least 1 gallon, and change the water every 2-4 days. I don't know what you are feeding yours, but I feed mine Hikari Betta Bio-gold, 2-3 pellets twice a day. About once a week, I replace that with freeze-dried blood worms as a treat. He loves those. :) And, if you use gravel, make sure you rinse it well before using it... the dust from the gravel will make the water cloudy if you don't.

It happens to the best of us, especially when just getting into the hobby. Don't feel badly. The more you know about your fish the better they will respond as well. I hope everything is turning out alright! When you have time, please update us on how he's getting along after the bowl change ;)

I've got a betta in a vase exactly like that... sans the marbles and plants

i have the same vase, minus the marbles( i have a few on the bottom)...i would take a few out and leave one bamboo stalk in there...other than that it looks good.
