Well I'm sure we've all done it. I went to the lfs for a nitrite test kit, some plants and some pond pellets for my uncle who took our goldfish into his pond. Of course I had to have a look at the fish. Paused outside the female betta tank and looked at them for some time. I usually just glance in there as they are nearly always just dark blue or reds and I've got those colours.
Today however I looked for a while mainly because they had so many of them in there. Lots of little ones too and suddenly this female shot out of a castle ornament they had in there, flared and then hid back in again. The yellow colouring on her tail made me notice her. I went straight to the guy and asked if I could have her as she was unusual colouring maybe described as mustard but I'm no expert. She stayed hidden in the castle and he had to shake it to ger her out
She's in my quarantine tank now and it has no lights but I've tried to get the best picture of her I can to show her colouring. She's a little beat up but by no means the worst in there as others were very torn due to being so many in there. She is very nosey and didn't stay still for long but I just snapped her tucking into some interpet betta flakes
Any thoughts on what I describe her as for colouring etc? She's fairly dark on the body sort of steely grey and has yellow/mustard colouring on her fins with blue edging. Can't wait to see her properly in a lighted tank with my other females.
