how do u do 100% water changes on a jar??

cause wont the water temp b really low at first???

thanx

Hi jm. Most people like to treat their water a day ahead of time. This lets it get to the right temp. Since i heat my room, and not my tanks, I let the water go to room temp. If you heat your tank or jars, then you need to heat your aging bin. Either a bucket or trash can works good. The pic shows a 33 gal trash can I use to age my water.

Yep, I do the same as fisher, my water sits in the heated fishroom for at least a day before I use it, then it's the same temp as the jars and tanks. But in instances where it hasn't been, I would put my 1 gallon containers in the sink or bathtub where I've filled it with HOT water...keep a thermometer in the gallon jug and wait for it to hit the same temp as the jars/tank. It doesn't take long at all, just a few minutes really.

I let mine sit overnight as well, but sadly I go through it so quickly and I still need more water to finish water changes, so I just fill my buckets directly from the tap and use it, just adjust the water to make sure it's around the same temp. A degree or two warmer is no biggie to them,it's colder water that makes them uncomfortable.

I also use aged water but because I don't have a heater in my apartment (I just use a space heater for the bettas) I mix my cold aged water with hot water from the tap till it's the same temp.

It's not too hard. Just net your betta, dump the water, replace the water, replace the betta.
The problem he has is the water temp difference...if you just move a betta from one temp water to another that has a big difference, then you're just asking for your fish to get sick and die.

I probably should have said I let it sit for 24 hours, but since others already said that, I didn't think it was too necessary.

Anywho: yes, letting your treated water age is always a good idea.
