Hey guys, I've been wanting a new nano tank for just sparkling gouramis for a while. So, I put together this little 1.5 nano tank.

Right now it has a juevenile betta in it, but when the betta out grows the tank, I'm going to swap it out for the lil' gouramis. :D

I'm going to make this a journal thread, but here's a final tank photo:

Here's an initial photo of the tank with some of the plants and the piece of bog wood I used. The anubias and crypts were a trade from an LFs for some of my Hemianthemus micranthemoide cuttings. The lace java ferns are cuttings from a plant I bought a couple months ago.

Ah, layout is done, but you can't see squat as the florite I used as the substrate has muckd up the water.

picture the next morning. Planted anubias and ferns onto the wood, as well as some moss from the moss carpet in the ten gallon in my sig.

Also planted the crypt and a bit of hair grass. The hair grass isn't going to be my final foreground plant, more of a mid ground in such a small tank.

Well, I finished the planting TODAY. Added:

Ludwigia
Hygrophila
Hemianthemus Micranthemoides (cuttings from the 10g tank in sig)

Also added 2 little plantlets of glossostigma elanotoides. If it takes off, great-- if not, I have a lot of riccia I could use for the foreground . . .

In the cup the animals are acclimating . . . 7 ghost shrimp and the single Opaque DT betta (he's smaller than some of the shrimp!! ).

They're in the tank. :D

I got a great shot of the betta, so hopefully someone can help me with the gender now.

That pic's a blow up-- he's really only 3/4 of an inch long

Here's a photo of one of the shrimp-- camera doesn't focus on them well. You can see the glosso plantlets in front.

That's such a cute tank!! I should do something like that cause I live in an apartment, small is good :p

Wow your betta sure is TINY but it's cute

I"ll think of a name in the mean time :)

Thanks guys. It was a real pain in the butt to plant in such a tiny tank . . . stick in your hand and it flows over; too little water and the stem plants fall over and then float out of the substrate. :S

Well, it's done so yay! :drink:
