Alrighty then, the females I got on Sunday still haven't eaten and I've tried everything I can get my hands on here in Mexico. They won't eat the betta food pellets and they won't eat the brine shrimp for them either. THey just chew em up and spit them out till they stop moving then they're not interested anymore and just leave their carcasses there (which I then take out).

THe pink female with the red fins actually looks weird now that I've been looking at her... remimd me of the fry pictures that CC and Wuv have been posting, her head is just oddly big for the rest of her body when you look at her top down. The blue girly still has her stress stripes and clamped fins. Arrrggg!!!

Am I going to have to import stuff from the US of A? And if I do, what should I get?

OH yeah, someone said (Cation?) that frozen bloodworms are great

Yes, bloodworms are a good food for the fish, and they relish it. You might want to try that.

Are the two foods you mentioned the only foods you get down there, or the only ones you were able to find?

The stuff I can find here (food wise) is Tetra Food, Wardley, and something called Bettamin or Bettabit. Live foods I can find brine shrimp, something they call "fleas" here (they're tiny little dots), meal worms, and these other small reddish brown short worms. The place I saw them... not too hygenic! I still haven't been able to find the oh-so-famous Hikari Foods. -_-

I personally don't like to feed my bettas those pellets they sell for two reasons...1. They add colouring to them so they fighters look more colourful very unantual. and 2. they are horribly expensive (IMO LoL). I tend to make the food myself or give them bloodworms or other nice relishes. They will not deny bloodworms.

I think 'the fleas' might be daphne its what we call it.

My bettas like those fleas.

i feed piggy and spedfish fd blood worms cuz i cant use fresh and i only got 2 so frozen are outta the question... its ok they wont eat brine either they both hate it so i am stuck with the bloodworms... also i have a question... can hbh pellets go bad? if so is it when they sink?

How is it that you make the food??

I tried peas today and while Sangria ate his fine the rest of them just stared at it to see if it would move

I found another fs and tomorrow I'm going to go and see what I can get my hands on! Wish me luck!

when i first got my ct, he wouldn't eat for 2 weeks!! eventually he got hungry enough that he gobbled anything i gave him. i guess just as long as the bettas are active then it should be fine! :)

do you have pictures of your girls??

Oooh interesting, I just read an article that I can also give mashed up mealworm guts...

I did the pea so Sangria wouldn't get constipated (he just fasted), swims around his bowl with it in his mouth like a doggie playing fetch :p

Oh here are some pictures  This blue one is the one that worries me more cause she's got stress lines and clamped fins :/

For the blue one? Nope it's gravel, the gravel I bought has specks of black which also makes me think it's poop but its not :p But what is in the picture is the pea I tried giving her.
