After some thought I've decided to spawn my orange plakat juvies before they're all gone by the end of the show season. Everybody in the betta room is conditioned so....if this one is anything like his father I have a new pair of oranges lined up and ready to go right behind these.

Not the best coloring on this male but it's his genes that I'm after :hey: humminah humminah

Spawn tank with my lovely construction paper tape job  Gives it a nice yellow hue :* Put them both in at about midnight.

Woo Hoo, more Wuv babies :) Are these 2 siblings? And how old are they now? Good luck, can't wait to hear how it goes.

Linda

hmm....how old are they? They were born in March if I recollect so...8 months now. And yuppers, they're siblings

Here we are 12 hours after going in the tank and we have a nice nest.
I just fed them some bloodworms then released the female. Here's my male looking rather secure and proud of his overnight work.

Edit~ now that I think about it, their father was 8 months old before he finally got it right so maybe this is good. Let's hope

Wow, nice nest!! I wish my boys would do that nice of a job prior to spawning (mine all seem to wait until the spawning starts, Lol).

It'll be interesting to see if your fry grow slower and smaller due to the parents being siblings (which is what I and others have found).

I've heard this too. And ime it seems to be true, judging by my sibling ct spawn and comparing it with the nonsibling ct spawn that is growing.

I have patience and time for slow growers though. These will be for the spring show season and also so that I have more orange females to use as breeding stock.

Looking good =)

We should start some sort of BB-club (betta babies) where we all could talk about our precious babies

Ya know what rain, I was kind of thinking along those lines a little bit. What we really need here at TFF is a nursery forum :hyper: At least a TFF Nursery to display pics of fish born to members here so we can keep them in one place. Maybe it could even be set up by member name so that when you click on a members name in this particular gallery, all of their fry pics pop up. I think it would be awesome :*)

I'll see what I can do ;)

Speaking of babies born to TFF members...here's my male again  I just went to peek and here he comes up to the glass to flirt with me. I have an odd fondness for this particular male. He's not the flashiest of the boys but he is indeed the most loving. He has so much personality

I would be more than happy to take the rejects off your hands. :)

ibb~ I have males right now that you might want :) Deep down I've kinda always wanted to send you one of the orange plakats...I just didn't now if you wanted one for sure and I didn't want to force one on you or have you feel obligated. :) I'll pm ya.

That boy is staring at you saying: "Mommy, I'm a man now! I will make you lots of grandchildren with my sister!" Uhm, wait a minute. Tha's a disturbing thought.
