Like the title says, was going to get cories, but the only ones Nazin had in were 8 bucks a pop....I figured....3 tanks, 3 cories each, wowie!!! So I bought 3 of these instead! They are VERY tiny....so no flame jobs, I am still a bit toasty from earlier. :/

Anyway....here is one of my 3 new synos....would appreciate a species name, if anyone knows.

synos and bettas......keeeeeute!

i think u have some in one of your larger tanks right? "ooo freshmike gets to brag..  " lol maybe they will go into your "big" tanks later when they grow big? i mean they are so cute, i just cant find anytho  how much tey cost u?

Is that a Syn. Petricola? Those are quite expensive around here - about $25 each, even for 2 inch specimen...

Compare to Multi, Petricola has some additional white edges in their fins and freshmike's Syn appears to have those...

But the dots on the body seem quite large, which is a feature of multi, not petricola...

Regardless, multies also cost $25 a pop around here...

$10 each (so like 53 cents US) .....but I have synodontis multipunctatus in the 180.....I don't think that is what these are...although, IF they are.....suweet!!!I should check their bellies I suppose, for the tell all lack of spots. :p They are just so small, I don't know if I will be able to tell or not. If they are though, that means I have 7. :hyper:

*thinks to self* I think I will breed them if that is the case!

Breeding them would be so cool, they need to be with cichlids (haps I believe, fryeri should do  )...because their fry need to be mouth brooded(hope thats how you say that :*) ) They sneak into the cichlids spawn site and drop their eggs there, the male swims through as well....doing his "ho hum....ya ya"...and the female cichlid is none the wiser...and broods the catfish eggs....too cool huh? B)

Here is Sid....he is a multipunctatus.

The eyes are far too small on these new guys to be multis. -_-

Which country do you live? (I take 53c is a joke... )

One of my next project is to breed Syn. Multipunctatus so I am looking for a good group to purchase and I have yet to find any.

Apparently, any prolific breeding mouth brooders that don't mind having catfishes around them during spawning, while stupid enough not to learn when catfishes eat their eggs are the best ones as hosts...

Some say they even managed to breed using Yellow Labs, P Acei or Peacocks so I guess it works with most non-aggressive mouthbrooders.

How big is your new Syn?

They are around 1", maybe a tiny bit bigger....the other 4 I have (multis) are about 4-5" each.

will they be compatible with these...

5 clown loach
1 pleco
4 angel fish
4 sparkling gourami (might become food...)
8 zebra danio

Hey, i never really knew anything about sydontis..
