Have you ridden that one steam train that goes into the mountains of France? I did, it was a rather interesting ride. This winter, I am gonna ride from STRASBURG PENNSYLVANIA!
Crappy diesels?
Whatever makes you happy.
My personal favorite is the aem-7 which is electric. Aem-7 in phase 3. Now thats a nice train. That or NJ Transit's ALP-46. The ALP-46 is actually origionally german.
Actually, if you all live in the northeast, you can probably see a lot of steam locomotives and other old trains at "Hobokenfest 2007". I'll be the first one there! Well, actually, some people from the Railroad.net forums will be there before me. A bunch of em are more rail smart than me.
But like I said, go to strasburg Pennsylvania. They got some good stuff there.
also, a narrow guage tour train is availible for touring in Main. It uses rail from those trains in the old days.
So there are some family fun ideas. Also, they have that train in indea that is steam, and moves so slow on curves, you can jump outand take a photo. It is SO AWESOME. the only thing is I don't wanna go to india cause it is discusting there and I would feel very uncomfortable.
For more info, read the book called "Trains". It has a list of 50 railroad to ride before you die.
