They're so cute  . I spawned my big plakat (he's about 3 inches) to one of the prizewinners from the betta show, a light peach girl with transparent fins. I will be leaving the father in to see how it goes. I'll give an update in a few days to let you all know how it's going.

I might have one of the girl, but not of dad (and I only have the camera when my bf brings it home from work on the weekends sometimes). I'll go see....

Okay, this is a really bad picture of her, but it's the only one I have. Little piggy, looking for food under the driftwood in the 20g.

I just figured, why count my chickens? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. B)

Okay, thought I'd give you all an update. Daddy's still in, and amazingly enough, I still have fry. He ate a lot of them, but stopped eating them 3 days ago - now I've seen them swimming right arough him and he ignores them. I don't know how many I have, as they're still quite small and there's lots of plants and wood in the tank, but at any given time I can count 2-4, so I know there's probably more in there. They appear to be munchin' down the microworms, and yesterday seemed to develop the ability to zoom around the tank - I noticed them moving much more quickly than before. I know they've grown some cause I don't have to squint as much to see them. :p

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't eat them. Updates later.

Till it's time to jar them out. The info I've seen says if dad gets along okay, to just leave him in as long as possible. Apparently it seems to cut down on aggression and allow the males to be kept together longer. The theory behind this is that Dad is the alpha male already, so the young 'uns don't feel the need to establish who is alpha, therefore cutting down on agression. Obviously if this doesn't work I will either remove them or remove him, but that's the long term goal at this point.

P.S. Just finished boxing up your stuff. I'm taking it to the PO when I'm done coloring all my grey hair. ( ) I put a stuffie in for Tuesday - just a silly one I got from a happy meal, but if she doesn't like it you guys could donate it or throw it away. There's also a suprise for you in there I think you might like! ;)

awww, Tuesday loves stuffies....especially the ones from McDonalds, she'll be thrilled. But there's no rush on the box ;)

I read that article about leaving the dad in,it's so intriguing to me. One member tried it and all went well for awhile....then :X I'm anxious to hear how it works out for ya :hyper: Aren't the boys so precious the way they strut around their fry so proudly

Yup. I think he was depressed for a day or two cause he ate so many. But I've seen some catch his eye the last few days, and he's perked back up. If it doesn't work this time, he'll get another chance. I've heard sometimes they eat the first batch or two, but learn what to do in time. The next time with the cracked out mustard gas-ish delta from the auction, though - I'm kinda scared to know how this batch is gonna look, assuming they make it!

i'm confused :S how old are your fry? you're jarring htem alreadY? i thought they were only spawned a few weeks ago?

They were only spawned about a week ago, actually, sorry for the confusion cc. Wuv was asking me how long I'm planning to leave Dad in, and I was saying I'm leaving him in till it's time for jarring. Not for quite some time yet.
