So in between meetings today (yes even on a Sunday), I stopped at the lfs.
I saw him
My medusa!
He is a Medusa head pleco and he is a male (judging by the thingies on his head)
I am donating one of my brisltes to my mother who is looking forward to having some help in algae problem.
If I can convince her to take both, I might consider go and getting the female.
He is so ugly only a mother could love him.
What do you think?

How jealous am I?

I've been looking for these for ever, never been able to get hold of them around here.

The L034 medusa is one of the fish on my "magic fish" list, in fact it was the first I added when I started it.

Your guy is an excellent example too, I'd nom it for FOTM, but it there doesn't seem to be a FOTM anymore.

Want want want want want.

It is difficult to tell from the picture, but it sure looks similar to a mature male bristlenose pleco? What distinguishes them visually?

They are almost triangular and are like just a head with fins. They have a much denser & longer thatch of tentacles.

And did I mention "want want want want want?"

Sorry sam, this medusa (the one in the pic) is the one I am keeping. I gave my mother one of my female regular brisltenose.

Icewolf;
I hate to say this but I actually bought him at Big Als in Millwoods. Unfortunately there are only females left (2) that don't look as impressive as him. Believe or not in the same tank there are scribbles and tooth nose plecos that worth looking at.

I will get a better pic showing him dead on to show the diff between a medusa and a regular brislte, it is just finding him again!
Thanks again, I am very excited!
