Here's the tank I got for a tenner at a car boot sale and the fluval 3 filter.

I just want to confirm how to use the fluval 3, in the picture can I put stuff like activated carbon inside the litle cannisters which then lock togther inside the sponge, the sponge goes in the cyclinger then in the main case then the pump part on top....??

Paul what length is the tyank?

That looks like the filter I got with the one I bought.

Here is a link to the manual on the Fluval Website!! what a bargain!! I went to a carboot a couple of weeks ago, and they had 2 tanks about that size with an eheim cannister each (not sure what model), they were £10 each, but already sold when I asked!!! Gutted!

Your fluval 3 must be the same year as my fluval 4, works exactly the same, i just put the plastic bits inside the sponge, put it in the water, and run it :D works ace!

Oh yeh, youve got the same size tank as me too, from your dimentions but in the picture it looks long and tall .

That would of been a slightly good buy!!

Cheers for the link.

Yeah it does look quite tall in that picture, pretty sure i rembered the right meaurements!!

It is the same filter paul.
Mine was a better bargain than yours ,i got the tank ,hood, filter and heater for £8 ,the kid at the boot sale wanted £10 but I got him to drop it.(ryan was jealous).
Just set it all up today

 damn you, is that a different tank from the other one???

so you have 2 now?? what size is it?
Got 3 now paul

Gone from 1 tank to 3 tanks in one week :p

Paul have you tried that fluval 3 yet?

Hmmmm I gone to 3 tanks in about 2 months, but still looking out for my 4th :) just need to be faster to that paper and dialing there number :)

yep the filter runs fine, i stuck it in a bucket this after noon to test it.

so what size tanks do you have?

That's a pretty old school fluval! I have the model before that one knocking around somewhere lol. I never used it as a filter, just used the powerhead to run my UGF.

4FT new one,the one like yours and the small one. We have a cannister filter in the 4ft it blows bubbles out but the fluval 3 its just a stream of water, can you alter it any way?

put it so it's above water level a bit then it will disturb the water giving better aeration.

Hmmm I'm yet to find my big tank!! I have to get rid of my beloved armchair to fit another tank in :-(
