At the show last weekend, my older sister Laura came with me for part of the time. She found a color combo that she just fell in love with, and had to bring one home with her. They're black and orange butterflies, very nice. Anyways, we ended up bringing home the smaller, and cheaper thankfully, of the two who were up for auction. He's just a character, and we started callin him spazzy within day or two, as he'd lunge at his food and almost always miss it, only to have it scoot all the way across the surface. He had some crazy issues swimming, looked like he couldn't quite get all his fins to work together. Then we figured out what it was!! He swims with his pectoral fins moving the opposite direction of most bettas. Instead of the front to back type motion, he uses back to front! Makes his fins cup forwards. SOoooo funny. I told her she should call him Special Ed, but we'll see.
Here's a photo of him, when he was still stressed and pale from the show. He's much brighter and darker now, but either way, beautiful.
