Possibly eggbound

Hi,
One of my younger cory's looks like she might have an egg stuck.
Its on her right side just above the fin.
I have read in cases like this that they will reabsorb the egg?
Its been nearly 24 hours
Should I catch her and try to help?

I don’t know what it is. However, I strongly doubt it is anything related to eggs. Good luck!

If its not an egg does anyone know?
No new additions to the tank plants or fish.
The tank is two years old.
Nitrate 10-15, nitrite and ammonia zero tank temp 76 degrees.
This baby has never left this tank and is about 8 months old, a spawn from my adult corys.

need pictures of the fish from different angles

check the water quality for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH

do a big water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week.
make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Why would I do more than my weekly water change when you dont know whats wrong with the fish
She looks perfect from every angle except the white area by her right fin

Maybe because it might be something other than an egg issue? I agree with Colin. Big water changes can help encourage egg laying or help with any possible disease or injury. My cory females are/were always pretty symmetrically fat shaped...but maybe a young female is not? 8 months is fairly young for breeding IME.

The reason I'm not convinced it's an egg problem is because the white area is at the base of her fin, not back toward her vent (cloaca, where everything, poo & eggs, comes out).

But, yes, fish females can resorb eggs or lay infertile 1s.

I know it's extra work to change water more often, but it's my first line of defense for anything "off" with my fish.

No, its no problem at all to do more water changes.

I appreciate your explanation and would do anything for my charges
I agree, she is a bit young for breeding and with the slender ish body may very well be a male.
I will do a major cleaning tomorrow and get some more pics.
I havent vacuumed the bottom in awhile as its very planted and i have all bottom feeders and ghost shrimp and blue neocardinas.
They keep everything so clean I dont vacuum much.

Let us know how "she's" doing soon. There are a couple other things that "might" be wrong with "it", but I don't want to be alarmist before we have more info. No point in dosing any drugs until you have a better idea of what is going on.

Vacuuming a shrimp tank takes more effort; I'm glad you're willing to do that. Good luck!
