This is a cutting off of Mrs. Grandmother’s house plant… it’s been kept on the farm for around 100 years.. we love this plant, in the living room, where it often blooms…

Since cuttings are easily rooted, just by putting them in a cup of water ( no rooting hormone required ) I started these in one of my typical hang on pots, with enough ceramic media to hold it in place, and this one I placed in an Aquaclear filter, in place of the media bag… last service on the filter noted lots of new roots… this plant likes to be pot bound, in fact, it’s said, it won’t bloom , until it’s pot bound… it’s competing with with the Pothos vines is in this tank, and they grow about as aggressively, so they should be similar in benefits to the Pothos… 2 new, rapidly growing vines starting… now I’m confident enough, in this trial, that I’ll be adding it to several tanks in the future…

The original, is still here, it’s been repotted several times, originally from a rusted out coffee can ( the earliest I know of, but likely many times before I came into the picture ), and we have repotted it a couple times, since I’ve been here… but at one time, since we have been here, it was over 40 feet long, and required really getting trimmed back, several years ago, when we did some rearranging… my understanding, they flower ( or get fragrant ) at night, as they were typically pollinated by moths… and the blooms are very fragrant…
