Fungal fish egg

So I've got two semi-mature fish eggs that are near each other in my fry tank. Both eggs do have semi-developed fish inside. The other day both eggs were clear. Now one has gone fungal white yet I can still see the semi-developed fish inside. Is this egg a lost cause? or is the fish inside protected? And will it affect the other egg?

I was wondering if the fish inside is still protected? It's hard to see on the pic but there is a fish in there.

Fungus or water mold typically feeds on dead or decaying matter. I would think the egg has been compromised.

Healthy fish eggs have natural defenses that can resist fungal infections to a certain degree.

move the egg into a small container of clean water and add some methylene blue and an airstone. it might save the fry.

Thanks for the reply Colin Sadly I don’t have access to methylene blue. I did move the egg into a small pot of water floating in the fry tank. I’ll give it a day or two and see what happens

unless you get the fungus off the eggs it will kill the embryo

a small amount of hydrogen peroxide added to the water near the egg might kill the fungus.

Removed the egg today along with another that had gone fungal. On the upside, a hidden egg hatched today so now on 3 fry with another on the way.

Daisy's Ricefish. I've got 5 at the moment in my 60L so I would like to increase the numbers by a few. Of course, I could just buy some as they are on the cheaper side. But I have a spare tank so it is another excuse for MTS . Ive just been chucking in eggs that I find in my 60L into this 10L tank and seeing what happens.
