Hello,
It's been ages since I've been on TFF but I need some help, i woke up this morning to discover tens of baby snails all different sizes in my fish tank that I haven't noticed before.

Sorry these are really bad images (my phone has terrible focus) but does anyone know what type of snails these might be? I'm really confused as to how they got there because I haven't added anything new to the tank recently and the only 2 other snails I have are nerites.

Possibly Malaysian livebearing snails (aka Malaysian trumpet snails). If they are, they are the worst snail to get and nearly impossible to kill. They live in the gravel and hide during the day and come out at night. The only way to kill them is to add copper to the tank for a few weeks to take them out. Even then it doesn't always kill them all because they close their operculum and sit there waiting for the copper to be removed, then carry on breeding.

That's what I considered but aren't MTS livebearers? I'm not aware of any adult MTS snail that is in my fish tank, neither have I added anything new recently. The only thing I've done was move around some things in my fish tank a couple of days back.

You'd be so surprised at how well they can hide. Plus those guys burrow down as well so he or she may not have shown himself really but now it had babies! Lol.
I had a tank where I thought there wasn't anything living besides a few very small plants, but then one day a pond snail just showed up out of nowhere...
Now there's also ramshorns.
There was probably just one or two that were unnoticed and then the population went up.
but aren't MTS livebearers
People with Multiple Tank Syndrome usually are still able to livebear.
(Sorry, I had to 😂)

I was congratulating myself on losing all my malaysian snails due to extreme cold when I moved. I went over a year without seeing any.
It was all hubris. In 2 tanks, they are back, albeit in small numbers. Their lifestyle makes them very hard to notice, until you do something that disturbs the tank. The photos make it hard to see if that's the snail you have, but it appears so.

Look at what you wrote below. You were out of sight for a long time, but we knew you'd be back. You truly are a stripy snail girl.
