I am helping friends with a planted tank. It has this red chip gravel that I have not used before. What type of substrate is this, is it beneficial/specific for plants AND, does it effect PH levels? Thanks!!!

Hmmm maybe Seachem Flourite Red?
The grey bits look off though, so it very well could just be a generic reddish river gravel
