Is this a guppy ?

In the 55 gallon at the nursing home there’s a bazillion guppies and mollies in it and I noticed this fish . It’s a male , obviously , but no coloration and look at that dorsal fin . He’s about the size of a good healthy female guppy . @emeraldking any ideas ?

Weird one. Scales look too big for a guppy or Gambusia and look more like platy scales. The body shape is wrong for Gambusia but colouration is correct.

I'm thinking the same thing - maybe a very subtly colored platy.

This is a to a wildtype reverted late male guppy. This does happen from time to time when people have different kinds of guppies that will develop to wildtype reverted males. A late male of such a wildtype will not develop clear coloration or even pattern and do have this strong scale pattern. It happens from time to time overhere as well in my mutt tank. But also from time to time in my tanks with wild guppies in it. Because they're late males, their size comes close to those of females. Despite of this all, they're a 100% functional males.

So, it's got nothing to do with platies, Gambusia nor mollies.

We're all happy drunk overhere... Happy fish, happy me...

Then perhaps this fish should come home with me for safe keeping .

@MaloK I know these are enlightened times we live in but fish with gonopodiums are still males .

It was a guess as said, But if it's a male...

Does he fit the picture of what you seen ??? The scales disposition and fins ?

And the one you picked, was he a male also, I could not tell.

But mutts are mutts, And this fits the bill.

Maybe. Could also be a female Poecilia reticulata. The strong scale pattern doesn't say anything about being a Poecilia reticulata or Poecilia wingei.
