Got all of my least killifish (Heterandria formosa) out of their outdoor tank at a water temperature of 13°C. And they were still very active both adults and fry...
Total of 6 cups of Heterandria formosa I got out of there...
We have had frost a few times now and it has not affected them.

Before I moved here, I gave my Heterandria formosa colony (I had collected them in Florida on a freezing cold day - colder than at home in Montreal!) to club members. One of them contacted me recently, and I'll get their descendants back in 2 weeks. It's a fantastic little fish - plain on their own, but pretty in groups.

Keeping them all these years has given me so much joy. I love very small fish. I'm fortunate to keep more dwarf livebearer species overhere. And Heterandria formosa is one of them. And I agree that keeping them in a group makes them look much better.

I noticed a tiny one when doing a water change at the weekend. I think there’s about 15-18 in the tank. With grey sand they can sometimes be difficult to spot but it’s good to see them still breeding in a community tank.
They bred like mad in their species tank until the water company did some work in the street out the back of our house then disaster struck. I thought I’d done something wrong until the old boy on the corner mentioned he’d lost an unusually large amount of livebearers after that weekends water change too.

I love them.

Sorry that that happened with you fish and those of the neighbour.
