So on Thursday I found loads of tiny white bugs crawling all over the outside of one of my tanks. I also found out they had made their way into the fish food in the draw below. So I threw out the food and hoovered up all the bugs on the tank.

But by the next day there were double the amount on the tank. They seem to be mainly at the top so I think they must be coming out the tank. They are getting into the silicone and they are such a nightmare.

Please does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them? :)

springtails?

Do you have a potted plant near the tank? There are aquatic versions of springtails I believe.
Because of their size they can do a Jesus and "walk on water"
They mainly feed on decomposing materials, molds, and mildew

Mites have eight legs, while springtails have six. Springtails tend to have a more elongated, rice-shaped body, while mites are more rounded one.

Habitually a small dose of salt is good for mites. In both case I would start to check the aquarium for leaks.
