Hey,

I posted a few days ago about my little guy Arnie being a bit sick.. well, he's got all of his colour back now, and he's eating fine and is very active again! :) The only problem is, his fin's seem to have gone see through... :/ Its really strange - I cant get a picture of it cos it doesn't show up with the camera - the only way i can explain it is that there are lines of see through bits on all his fins, mainly his tail though...

Is this something i should be worried about?

Jess

Nop nothing to worr about. Hes probably aging up and becoming more Adultish. The clear fins are a gene Called Cellophane or something. Sorry cant remember right. :D Anyways nothing to worry about my opaque betta has cellophane genes.

Heres a nice picture of him....

Ask u can see hes main one is in his tail. I bet ur betta is opaque white or a pinkish color or a very light color....

Ur welcome.

Another explanation he might be a litttle stressed. :dunno:

Glad to hear Arnie's doing better Jess. Joker may be right, there is a trait called cellophane that makes the fins appear transparent. Not quite sure if this affects your betta though. Best explanation I could see though...

I dont think he could be stressed as i only noticed this yesterday and nothing has happened to him recently! It must be this cellophane thing... he probably is getting old now anyway, bless him

Thanks for the replies though! :)

If it is on the edges of his fins or where his fins where lost due to fin rot etc. then it is most definetely fin growth. I would know, I've seen LOTS of it. :p

well, he's never had fin rot. so i dont think its that and its actually the middle of his fins, like in the picture Joker posted, only its not quite that see through yet.
