Marimo algae balls… what are these steel wool, of the plant world, and how do they fit in our aquariums???

Nice for keeping food in but not a fish of any type. Jars have a small water surface area per volume ratio - that's one of the reasons the traditional goldfish bowl is not good for fish.

Don't forget bettas need heaters and filters and jars are not the best shape for those.

The traditional fish bowl is supposed to be filled 2/3 maximum,

I had a comet goldfish for 9 years in 1/2 gallon bowl and never filled it more than above. No decor no substrate.

The cool thing with Fish bowls and jars, is that you can move the thing at will. And "Peanut" loved to be installed in the sunlight for a while during the day and was happy to be dragged around to follow our activities. And would greet you at each visit you made. I changed his water everyday, 3285 times in his life.

Maybe the jar can be OK for cherry shrimps ? They are good at room temp and have a very light bioload. So a small sponge filter with a weak air pump have good chances to be enough. Since it seems that the less you take care of them the better they go.

I was thinking fill just below the shoulder on the jar I pictured…

I had a guppy in a cup for an afternoon but then my brother drank it without looking at the content :(

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat !?!?!? For real ?
No; but i did have a small aquarium in the bathroom and he did pour tooth paste in it every day; about a month after they all died he said he was "running an experiment to see how much toothpaste they could handle" or something like that. I was really angry but he was bigger than me so there wasn't much i could do :(

I'm sure he drank a few on the side and didn't tell me ;)

Yiiissssshhhhh !!!

That's the kind of gag, that would have thoughtfully endangered even my bare existence. If my father was to learn that I put toothpaste in my younger bro's aquarium...

I would probably have "run" the worst "experiment" of my life.

Lolll.

My mom told him to not do it again but that didn't help my guppies much.

I don't have nice words for your brother

Revenge
Yea but on the bright side it was a long time ago and he doesn't live with me now that I have my own home. I would never let him near my winkie babies:

Revenge can be very sweet !!!

I once worked in a place where peoples steels your food... You bring 3 inches thick ham sandwiches with all the outfits chips, soft-drink, candy bar...And, end up with peanut butter jelly and an apple juice-box.

One day I made a total picnic and copiously shot everything with methylene blue.

Everybody on the job knew that day who was stealing for all that time. And we never seen them again.

I know, it's a dirty rotten trick... But at some point the rage amongst the worker from that problem was tempering with the job itself.

As an absolutely based, honest guy, stealing from me does not remain unpunished, as I would expect myself in return.

Honestly It took me weeks to resolve myself that I had to do something bad, to do good...

As a Canadian I'm very sorry for the Bluetooth these guys had to deal with... But the whole shop laughed for years.

They were lucky you used the Meth. Blue instead of some rat poison. Jst enpough to make them sick not to kill them of course.
