My wife finally decided she wanted to upgrade her 10 gallon tank that I set up almost a year ago for her (she was not into it at all), to a 20 gallon. After this past year of her live bearers breading like crazy and teaching her about all the water changes , testing , etc. Now she is just as into it as I am. I let her do her own thing this time , I was just there to answer any questions she had. I think she did a great job. Taught her how to add some bacteria from one of our filters. I was nervous waking up this morning , hoping we weren’t gonna find any dead fish. We didnt of course because she has learned well. She is going to our lfs today to get some plants for her self.

Current fish are just live bearers , some shrimp , and a small pleco

It’s nice that’s she’s getting into the hobby and it’s something you can do together. Since hubby and I first got ours, we had a 15 gallon first then upgraded to a 30 gallon, he’s been interested but has had little involvement apart from coming with me to pick out fish.
But now he’s suggesting getting another tank but a 10 gallon for a betta. I’ve told him it will be his to look after and maintain 😅 let’s hope I don’t end up looking after both - not that I would mind!

Has she decided on what plants to get?

Yup! That was her thing , just come with me to try and get the “prettiest ones” which is hard when my main tank is only bichir 😂. And just got off a video chat with her , she was walking out of the store with 2 angels and no plants😂 so I might have to stop on my way home from work to get a little more greenery in her tank

You can’t blame her. Angels are pretty 😍 my two are like silver diamonds floating around in my tank 🥰
But yes that might be a good idea 😅

Luckily they are very small , she did good picking fish alone too😂 🤯

The good ole wife stories. My fish hobby was supposed to be my wife's. Lasted ohhhhh an hour. Now its all mine haha.. Only thing she's concerned with is how many different fish can go in the tank. I've slowly told her she needs to look more at the fish needs and what will work with our parameters.

When I was starting up several tanks my wife said she was going to start a tank for African dwarf frogs. I cycled the tank for her and added the frogs. I feed the frogs. I perform all the water changes. I clean the tank and filter. But mind you, it’s my wife’s tank. 😉
