Just got home from a long weekend out of town, and today is the day I’m tackling a re-scape of my 10gal aquarium. This is my first tank and I’m very much a newbie figuring things out as I go…

Anyway, before I left for the weekend I noticed some tiny, almost microscopic, round-ish little creatures clinging to one top corner of my glass. They’re pretty quick and they zoom around like fleas or little insects, mostly sticking to the glass near the surface. I got a video but I can’t figure out how to attach it to this post. Now a few days later there are lots more of them. I’m not overly concerned since I’m cleaning out and totally remaking the tank today anyway, but I’m just curious what they are?? I do also have a lot of tiny baby snails on the glass that are about the same size, but these guys are not snails, they move a lot faster.

Not sure how helpful the photo will be since you can’t see the movement pattern, but can anyone help me ID what’s going on here? TIA!

Edited to add: the bigger specks in the photo are baby snails. The tiny dark pinhead looking specks are the swimmy creatures I’m talking about….

Have you looked up images of daphnia? They fit with the 'flea-like' part of your description. Fish eat daphnia so it is fine if that is what they are.

Thank you! I googled daphnia’s and I think that’s exactly what they are! Yeah Uberhoust they’re about the same size as the tiny baby snails and look similar, but they swim, and move much faster. Re-scape is complete and I’ll be adding some fish in the next couple weeks, so if they end up coming back they’ll just be free food. Many thanks!
