Can someone ID this fish?

Hello my partner randomly bought me more fish, yes I know. Not ideal but I don’t want to be ungrateful and PAH often give poor advice.

On the receipt it just said Cichlid, I’m currently stocking a community tank and have yo-yo loach, platys, sword tails, pleco, angel fish and barbs.

Just wondering whether these things will start attacking other stock when they grow? for now they’re okay but I may have to rehome but it’ll be a shame as they’re stunning
I know I’m going against what the rest of the crowd is saying here, but this is a blue acara (not the electric blue, but the regular blue) aka Aequidens Pulcher…..in my opinion. I love the acaras and really miss the one I had (in my avatar photo). I believe the orange tip on the dorsal fin is what you see typically on the blue acara. It should get along with the fish you have. I hope you have a 50 gallon aquarium though as you’ve got a lot of fish.

I’ve rehomed, checked the guy was a suitable home and he’s got a 5ft and other big fish so he’s pretty experienced.

It’s worrying pets at home are still trading as they’re telling people they’re suitable for community and 4ft tanks.
Your fish is a blue acara, NOT A JACK DEMPSEY. Yes, they are fine for a community tank, similar to angelfish.

If they are blue acaras they will be fine in a community tank, but if they are Jack Dempsey they won't be fine. Grow them up and see what they turn into.

Jack Dempsey is one of my “dream fish” if I ever get a spot to put a large aquarium. I “settled” for an electric blue acara instead. Looking at these pics again has me wanting another blue acara, this time one of the “normal” ones like the one pictured below. Trust me. That is a blue acara that Characf has, I would place a money bet on it.

You know what? I think I lost the bet! Your fish probably is/was a Jack Dempsey juvenile. It isn’t going to fit well in your community at all.

The tank is 65 gallons, but I’m rehoming to somewhere bigger now.

I wish I had room for a bigger tank here and you could’ve rehomed the fish to me. I’m sure it found a good home though.

The Blue Acara is Andinoacara pulcher. These are Jack Dempseys.
