HAPPY NEW Year !
I have 6 amano shrimp. They will be 2 years old March 2024. My tank is a 10 gallon.
Can i add a few more amanos?
1st- health of shrimp ?
2nd- will my existing shrimp accept new shrimp?
As cute as baby cherry shrimps are, i don't want to set up bigger tank to accommodate.

If the tank is Shrimps "only" And you are adding the same variety, There is no quarantining required besides a good acclimation before release.

If you have fishes, they could bring a lots of nasty crustacean at the same time.

What do you guys feed your Amano shrimp? I only have one at the moment so he lives mainly off algae in the tank and I'll drop in occasional flakes.

I don't intentionally feed mine anything. They'll eat algae, biofilm, or leftover food.

Okey-doke then you shrimpists . Post pictures of your shrimp along with a little something about your fascination with these creatures . I do believe I’m developing an interest .
They are adorable little creatures!

Same. They're scavengers. They'll find something
I spend too much for Hikari Shrimp Cuisine. I'm trying to introduce a new brand.

I'll try to get some pics later. I like amanos for several reasons. They're the only shrimp I've ever been able to keep alive for more than a couple months (I think there's something lacking in my water), and they are really long-lived. Their coloring is subtle but really pretty, rewarding a closer look. Having shrimp in the tank delights viewers (including me), who are always happy and excited to see something besides the expected fish and snails. And it's fun to watch them work. A friend of mine suggested I take a video of one, and photoshop in a little typewriter for it to work on. :) They're peaceful, and they don't reproduce in fresh water, so it's easy to control their numbers. And as @finfayce said, they're adorable. Even fairly cheap, too. What's not to love?

I’m sold . I have a ten gallon with nothing in it so there’s their home . I am curious about this “there’s something lacking in my water” business . I read an article about these shrimp in TFH and it mentioned a shrimp water additive . It didn’t mention anything about the why of the additive or what it was supposed to do or what was in it but could it have anything to do with minerals needed for when they moult ? They do moult don’t they ? Would aquarium salt suffice or is salt harmful to them ?
