A lovely little livebearer...
Phalloceros caudimaculatus reticulatus
Aquarium strain

Usually an aquarium strain won't have a scientific name but in this case it's permitted to make a distinction from the original wild version. It's got the ending "reticulatus" to show that this variety has got spots. The original variety has got 1 or 2 vertical bars.

Very nice looking fish. Do well when kept at about 70f, I also like the gold variety. These days there are very few people keeping a wild strain.

Well, the wild form is a bit hard to get your hands on overhere. I had them before. But the speckled one is an aquarium strain. I lost all of my golden ones. The golden ones are more sensitive.
I keep a group of them outdoors each year from spring to somewhere fall. They still stay well and reproduce well between 59°F- 82°F from my own experience.
