I had a bad EBay experience in the purchase of 6 Pinoys. Turns out the seller used a photo of a breeding pair that he lifted off another site. I did a Google reverse image search and got to the identical photo at a large vendor in Australia. The seller and I are in the eastern US.
The fish I received are solid black without a hint of blue and zero iridescence. They’re 3+ inches & said to be 6-7 months old. The seller says they are juveniles and will color up. I have reservations. When confronted with the photo he got from Australia, he said: “That was an attention getter to let people know how they will look later.” He added a reasonable person would have known they weren’t his breeding pair. Well, call me unreasonable. I trusted him. I call this ye olde Bait & Switch. It cost $170.
The thing that drove me to this seller was the size. I wanted to put the group in my 125 vs growing them out. I tried viewing these fish under multiple light sources: full spectrum grow, blue LED strips & a Fluval Aquasky with 4 adjustable colors. They are as black as midnight.
