First of all happy new year!

But...

I'm quite worried after seeing this almost stringy web like substance growing in my aquarium. It's on the substrate, wood, and now the glass! Could it be white algae? I'm fairly new to it all so really worried about it.

It looks like some kind of biofilm, bacterial growth. It has a cooler shape than I've seen here. It often flares up and vanishes in relatively new tanks. It's just life happening, and not a worry. In a few weekly partial water changes, it will fall back.

Happy New Year!!

How long has your tank been running for?

Nice scape by the way 😊

Thank you for info and reassurance! Just had be panicking as it's quite amazing how quickly it appeared out of nowhere. But all the fish seem happy and parameters are all in check :)

It's been running for about 2 months now. Fully cycled with nitrite & ammonia at 0 with nitrate at 10ppm.

Thanks a lot :)
