Some neat fish at my LFS

It was so funky. I loved it a lot 😂😂
Yah. Definitely a quirky looking fish. I'd keep a saltwater tank to keep that thing...
Name it "disabled nemo" or something like that 😂

Sigh, way back before I left Ohio there was the best store that I've ever seen. Sadly the owner dies and they seem to have shut down. This woman, Nancy, was a PHD type aquatic biologist along with being an aquatic vet. She would actually do surgeries on fish. But that is neither here nor there as to this thread.

They had a fish I wanted SO bad but fought myself and never got even though they had one in stock. It was a leopard shark! Awesome beastie and one of the very few sharks that will do well in an aquarium as they restrict their growth to ~6 inches per 50 gallons of water. This is sort of my bucket list fish that I'm sure will never happen. Beautiful critter! Downside is that it is almost impossible to keep anything else in the tank other than food. They will kill a grouper 4-6 times their size. There is a LOT of argument as to the size restriction versus the water volume is actually true. I'm just putting out what I was told by a PHD Marine Biologist. :dunno:

Ohhhhh lovely! I’ve never seen a shark available before! Stingrays, sea horses, eels, yeah but never like. An actual shark.

If anyone else has any neat LFS fish to share, feel free 👀👀

Some neon black skirt tetras, blue rainbow fish, red headed angels, goldfish that stole my heart, and a disturbingly deformed “balloon” form of gourami that ive never ever seen before but they had a lot of them

It’s really not…. Like. It looks like a horribly deformed fish, not like something you would want to breed at all. I imagine their health issues are massive…. I was shocked to say the least.

Well, it says that it's a balloon pearl gourami on the glass. So, I assume it's bred this way. In that case, it should be forbidden to breed such specimens. It's not doing the fish any good.

So my LFS was insisting that those were not, in fact, baby axolotl, but a type of newt, and that their fins would eventually vanish.

But. Idk man. They look a freakish amount like axolotls.

They actually thought those were newts and not axolotls? 💀
Wow...
