Hi guys you might have seen my first thread weeks ago about my beach jar I made - https://www.fishforums.net/threads/what-did-i-catch-o_o-beach-jar.483964/

BUT!!! Now there is a new creature thats been lurking here for a few weeks. Its a shell shaped thing, I think a sea shell, sometimes this wormy kind of thing sticks out. What is it!!???
It can swim because I see the shell in different places. Please help me identify what this interesting thing is!

I have attached photos and video.

Baby gooeyduck?

Regardless, most if not all seashell creatures start off nearly microscopic so you wouldn’t see it right away if it was tiny

Do you mean a geoduck? Are you saying this will grow into those big geoducks?!

Yes that’s what I meant 😂

It’s a possibility! What it looks like to me

The shell doesn't look quite right for a small Geoduck, the shape is wrong and the siphon looks too small even for a young one. I am sure it is a bivalve, but the sample is not likely collected where you can find Geoducks (deeper water, typically muddy or silty substrate. And if it is a larva that developed I don't know how well a Geoduck would develop in a jar. I suspect it is a small local clam that was in its current form from the original collection, might be a young mussel too, shape not quite right but the coloration on the shell might fit better, but on the other hand it shouldn't have grown to its current size (mussels are free swimming until they attach to a surface).

I would say it is an unidentified clam.
