Not sure what’s happing with my red claw crab and I’m freaking out.!!!

Yes, if you are cleaning in chlorinated tap water

If you do not have a test kit, I recommend getting one ASAP.....

My guess is the crab is suffering from ammonia poisoning in an uncycled tank...that would explain the cloudy water, more than likely
So, if she was put into a 10 gallon with no filter while I was cleaning the 30 gallon and removing the land.? That could have done it

If it was put into tap water that was not conditioned properly, it certainly didn't help

But there is no use in guessing until you test your tank water

Oh god no.!!!! The tank waster was moved from the bigger one to the smaller one, she just didn’t have a filter, because it wasn’t a long process, I just threw the heater in.

So pet stores around me actually didn’t have the ammonia test kits my bf said he’s been looking for it. I’m running to the pet store to have them test it and I’ll be back with pictures.!!!! Half hour.!!!!!
Not gonna lie the water is always cloudy, but I’ll be back.!!!!

That will work for now, but you need to be testing your own water...order a test kit online

Sadly that had no ammonia reading. The liquid test kits are also far more accurate... You can easily find them at a petsmart or Amazon and chewy.

My boyfriend is picking one up on his way home I found a pet store that has one.! So, by 7 tonight I’ll have an ammonia test done.

So, am I kinda close to say when my other crab chopped her leg off and when I removed all the land and completely cleaned the filter like a twinky and took the good bacteria out I’ve let something loose to cause an infection.? Her missing a leg and walking around may have sent something into her .?

Is there anything I can do in the mean time.?

Because I just purchased a new little crab the other day. Will she be okay.? Or is she already feeling the effects of it.?
How can I save my newest.?

Good to hear you found a test kit!

I am no crab specialist and have never owned a crab so I cannot help you with that sorry 😐

I know I said I know nothing about crabs but I do know with any living thing you keep, if one animal is sick, you don't buy another. You really should have waited until your first issue was saved and fixed before getting another creature. Cause it may affect them as well.

So I actually exchanged a big mean one for this new smaller one. I had 3 the whole time the spot on her back was changing colours. One was suffering because the big one chopped her 2 legs and her claw, she was okay, she was doing well she was climbing up the filter and holding herself up there, she was going good until he got her other leg, but any dip or movement from the filter water would flip her over and then she was stuck and couldn’t get herself back over.

What kind of water conditioner do you have?

This is all the stuff I use. Nothing has changed with how I change or do the water, it’s always been a little cloudy. They all were doing awesome, it’s only been recently, but in that recent period, I’ve taken all the land out, and done a water change and an extra water change.

Let's see what your new test kit reveals about your water params

That Top Fin conditioner isn't the best, when you run out, get some Seachem Prime, or API Tap Water Conditioner

You don't need the carbon, the "cleaner", or the salt...the more chemicals you add to a tank, the more you complicate matters
