my oscar is about 5-7inches long, he won't grow very big, he was kept in a very small tank for over 6 months, he now lives in my 33gallon, if gets a little bigger, i'll put him in my other tank.

nice, but fish dont grow to the size of their aquarium thats just an old mith, he'll probly grow to regualr size

my sunfish is wild caught, i was fishing for minows to feed my turtle and i netted him. i've had him for 5 days including today, he seems to be doing o.k.

He will grow bigger. Growth stunting is not healthy for them. He would be OK in a 33G as long as you dont add anything else, but ideally you want bigger when it is an adult.

Just my 2p.

Ben

Good looking oscar there! that sunfish is really freaky looking as well how big is it?

PS: If you like your plants and you want them for a long time keep them away from your oscar! they hate them and will rip them apart lol click the link to my gallery all my tanks used to be packed with plants! i now have none lol.

thanks all
my sunfish is a little smaller than my oscar, maby about 4 inches. all my plants are fake, i don't have the problem with my oscar taking plants out yet. my johannis are diging up the gravel now, i guess preparing to breed but my plants are still intact as of now anyway.

Fake plants just make it more interesting for cichlids. I had about 7 or 8, and what they like to do witch is strange is they pull the stem from its socket and then try to rip them apart even more and after all that is done they will put them to one side of the tank as in there saying "there are your plants and thats what i think of them"
