Hello! I recently got an African Dwarf Frog for my tank about two weeks ago and there are other fish also in this tank. When I bought it it had a tiny lump near it’s mouth but it didn’t look to odd so I didn’t think much of it but it has now grown and looks concerning. I’m not sure what this may be or why it may be happening. Does anyone know? I’m not sure if I should remove them from the tank in the meantime or not. Any advice appreciated, thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

It's either a bacterial infection or a tumour.
You can't do anything for tumours and bacterial infections are hard to treat in amphibians.

Triple Sulpha is one of the few medications that are relatively safe for frogs and about the only thing I would recommend trying. If you know a vet that specialises in frogs, they might be able to do a swab of the area and prescribe something else, but the cheapest option is Triple Sulpha (Tri Sulfa).

Hello,

Thank you for this info! That sounds good I will try finding Triple Sulpha as I don’t know any vets around me that work with amphibians. I do also have API Fin and Body Cure Medication would this be safe to use as well or should I not use that and only try for the Triple Sulpha?

API Fin and Body Cure medication contains Doxycycline, which is an antibiotic designed for people. It should only be used as a last resort on known bacterial infections. Improper use and mis-use of antibiotics has lead to drug resistant bacteria that kill people birds, animals, reptiles and fish.

Try the triple sulpha first.
