Ok, ive just read CuteCotton's topic about whether her betta is marbled (Looks like it but i dont know much!lol) and i was just wondering... what colour is my betta?!?! I know that sounds stupid, but to me, he's purple but ive read a few times that a purple betta doesn't exist... so what colour is he?!

I've attached a picture which is the best i can get to show his true colour, though the camera always seems to pick up a blue tint on his fins which isn't really there... Its odd! Sorry its not the greatest picture... theres some more in another thread ('My Betta' i think) if you can be bothered but as i said, they dont show his colour so well..

Anyway, any suggestions!? Thanks!

Jess

i'd say he's a lavender cambodian :D if the blue isnt' really there, then he does look purple, and i do believe that purple bettas exist! but they're just a bit more rare :p

Hmmm.... 'Lavender Cambodian'... that sound a bit posh for Arnie!!! :D lol Its really hard to describe but basically, where his fins are quite blue, just add a little bit of purple (lavender! :D ) and thats what colour he is!! lol I think he is purple personally!! His body looks purple and his fins are just different shades of purple. I may be wrong, or of course, Arnie may be unique!! :D lol

You can see the colour a little bit on this one i guess...

(posted these pics about three times now - sorry anyone who's seen them before!lol)

he IS very unique :D i've never quite seen that coloring in a betta before :p i have a betta that looks sorta like Arnie, he looks like this:

Picture054.jpg

but it's not quite as nice of a purple as he is :) i believe a betta is a cambodian when they hav ea lighter body color than thier fins..in arnie's case his body coloring seems a lot lighter than his fins  he is such a beatiful color though :D lets just say he's pruple

p.s. don't mind this poor guy's tail  i can't seem to get it better no matter what i do. He just keeps blowing it off himself

Arnie looks a lot like your betta! :D though I think their bodies maybe slightly different - yours looks almost pink whereas Arnie's is more puple! But thats probably the only difference!! We'll call them purple and say they're 'special' :D lol

It doesn't really matter too much to me. I dont breed bettas and Arnie isn't good enough quality to breed from anyway i dont think, he's just a pet! :) And he looks nice!!lol

BTW, have you tried Melafix? Arnie's fins got a bit shredded in my community tank and i put him on his own, gave him some melafix and he was all better in about a week :)

they're all sepcial :D that's the thing i love bettas, you'll never find two that are completely identical!

i've tried melafix on my betta :( with salt and frequent water changes, ntohing seems to make him better! he did seem to get better at one pont, and then i woke up the next morning and it was all shreded again  it's not getting worse, but it's not getting better either :/

Thats really odd... Im assuming he's on his own? Which would mean he's doing it to himself... Ive never had any do that so really wouldn't know what to suggest!! Whenever i have a problem melafix and salt seems to cure it!! I guess ive been lucky!!

Maybe put him next to another if he's not already? Might cheer him up a bit at least! :) Cant be nice having a chewed up tail...

He's very nice  I have a boy that looks exactly like him :) Then reason that you see color in pictures that you don't see with your eyes is because bettas are colored in layers, so when you hold a flashlight to them or take o flash photo you will sometimes see those under layers. I have one fish that looks almost entirely red in person, but with a flash he is mostly blue  :)

I didn't know that!! Thats weird!! I had a red one who had blue lines all over his fins when i took a picture... he was beautiful... he died... :byebye: Poor Arnie 1...

Would you say Arnie is purple too Sorrell? Or is there no right or wrong answer?lol

Hey! Thought id add another to this thread as i FINALLY got a picture that show's arnie's actual colour!!!! Its a bit blurry but thats pretty much his colour!!! :)
