Hi there
My only molly fish has had babies (I didn’t know they could store sperm, so waking up to loads of molly babies was a big surprise- why does no one tell you these things!)
There are 14 in total and I’ve put them in a breeding box thing to protect them.
But what do I do with them! Once they are big enough they can go back to the tank- but will they start mating !? I have visions of non stop breeding incest Mollys and 100s of babies here there and everywhere.
Any advice would be appreciated here. I’m a total novice at fish keeping!
Also, mum fish is not doing great , I think she has a bladder disease or something ..she is swimming upside down, has a white thing where she gave birth , looks in general distress , not eating and hiding all the time.
What can I do for her please?
Thank you in advance !

Hello and welcome :)

We would tell you!

Admire their cuteness.

This is exactly how it will play out. Unless you can separate the males and females and keep only males, or only females who have never even looked at a male. Your fish store may take the ones you can't keep. Mollies are quite big fish and require decent size tanks, espcially when there are lots of them.
mum fish is not doing great
Please can you post a photo of her?

Also, @emeraldking has a lot of experience with mollies, hopefully he will be able to offer advice when he's on.

If you'll keep all fry and both genders are present, there's no stop of inbreeding. If you want to get rid of them, sell or donate them.
To see what's wrong with your female, please post a photo...

Hi there ! Thanks for your reply!
Okay- I will try and get the molly fry to the store and maybe keep a couple !
I will try get a photo of the mum as soon as I can. I thought she had died yesterday as I hadn’t seen her all day, but after nudging one of the ornaments she came out..still swimming on her side and sometimes upside down..poor fish 😢

If the female developed the problems after giving birth, then she had complications with the birth and will probably die. If she hasn't eaten and is still struggling to swim normally and stay the right way up, then euthanise her.
