New Apisto

I bought a pair of Cacatuoides last year but it turned out to be both male.
It's a problem when the fish farm is dishonest selling young male that looked like female..

But both are coloring up nicely now with beautiful spiky fins.

I have no idea how I ended up saying "your a fish."
Ungrammatical. If I had intended to write that, it would have been "you're a fish", a compliment in my world!

I bred them for years, and my guess is he's younger than she is, so may be a bit slow on the uptake. There are few fish more fascinating to watch. Just wait - the real show hasn't started.
Well well

did not see that coming…..

Male must of been interested after all. I was just away to do a gravel vac and I seen the female with about 10 little ones. Bit of a surprise to me. Not even sure how old they are!

You always know when the female is bright yellow, but more importantly, the pecs are black like that.
You must be keeping them well - they're happy.

As for him - watch out for the quiet ones at the back.

Whenever I buy wilds, I always try to get an older looking female, on the principle she's been there, done that, and learned.

Most people try to raise them to adulthood, thinking they'll do okay selling them. They spend a pile of money on the resources needed for that, and then end up giving two pairs that survive to their friends! Welcome to the world of Apistogramma breeding.

These would be given away if they make it. So we will see how it turns out, sure watching the journey will be great.

I love the way when they go to far away from her she sucks them up and moves them.

pic this afternoon.
