Hello everyone!

I’m a university student with a research group studying Aiptasia. We can’t seem to keep them alive which is hilarious given then they’re suppose to be difficult to get rid of. Tank salinity is at 27%, pH is around 8.2, ammonia levels are high due to them dying…. We feed them brine shrimp every two weeks and have light set up for 12 hour cycles with wave-runners and filters. Temperature is kept around 20-22 C. Not sure what we’re doing wrong???

Side note: if anyone would like to send some Aiptasia our way, we would be forever grateful!!!

Please, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I posted on your other thread about this but you need to get the ammonia to 0ppm asap because that will kill anything in a marine tank. And the more that die, the more ammonia that is produced, which kills more livestock. A complete water change should get rid of the ammonia.

How much is 27% salinity, (1.022, more, less)?

If/ when the water is good and they are growing, I would feed them once a day or once every second day with newly hatched brineshrimp or other small foods.

Give them lots of light too so they can photosynthesise.
