Is this rock safe?

I would really like to add a rock to my tank. I found one on my shelves. At first glance, does it look safe?

Do you have an A.P.I. nitrate test kit ? The test solution is more acidic than vinegar and will give you a more accurate test. I have had rocks that didn't react to vinegar but did with the nitrate test.
 
The other thing you can do is google what the basic rocks in your region are, and try to identify what stone that is. Then look up if it is stable. I like that method because every time I do it, I learn something. It beats vinegar.
