Yesterday morning, one of my small-medium size discus was swimming strangely and it got progressively worse over a couple of hours, sometimes swimming upside down. I treated the water with Interpet swim bladder treatment and removed the carbon filter. Unfortunately I don't have a hospital tank so at the moment I've not fed the other fish. Today the fish is much better and looks back to normal so I was wondering whether I should continue the four-day treatment or can I go back to my normal water change and feeding routine and put the carbon filter back in? Thanks in advance for any advice

pictures and video of the fish?

there is no medication that treats swim bladder problems.
any idea what the ingredients are in the medication you used?

if fish start losing balance and co-ordination, it is usually an infection in the brain.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I've attached photos and a link to a video but the video was taken today (not yesterday when it was acting very differently)

Sorry for not editing these

The Interpet swim bladder treatment product composition is

Formaldehyde 2000mg/100ml
Bronopol 1045mg/100ml
Benzalkonium Chloride 500mg/100ml

Was the fish doing anything besides what is in the video, because that looks like stress, possibly from being bullied?

The ingredients in the medication are just general disinfecting agents used to kill anything microscopic.

Swim bladder problems cause the fish to float up or sink to the bottom when they stop swimming. They are uncommon but do happen sometimes.

The fish in the video is hanging in the water with its nose pointed down but the fish is not actually sinking. That is not a swim bladder issue.

Today he seems totally fine and I spend hours watching them and there doesn’t appear to be any bullying at all. Yesterday morning for a few hours he was breathing heavy and did look stressed, he was swimming rapidly and could not get his balance but not necessarily at the top nor bottom of the tank. But Thankyou so much for your comments it is really helpful and interesting as to what it could have been.
