Hello,

A snail has been hanging around for a few weeks now. It came in on a plant and has since grown a fair bit.

I’ve left it in there as it seems to help clean up. It’s the only snail in the tank.

Can you help me identify it?
Will it breed and should it be removed?

Thanks

Looks like a standard pond snail.

They can breed yes but can be very helpful in a tank environment

Ive always left them in and had no problems. Theres ways to lower numbers if it ever got out of hand🙂

I recognise that as a ‘bladder snail’. They are known as pest snails, but as mentioned by @AquaBarb they do bring lots of benefits with them. They will multiply to match the amount of food for them and a piece of microwaved lettuce makes a very good trap if you find them getting out of hand.

If you do catch them to remove them, they MUST be killed, do not let them reach any local outs space/waterways.
