So yet another DIY 3D background design came to me at dawn for no discernible reason. I’m really super excited about this one!
I ordered
rock molds to be used with plaster of Paris. Other products may be available besides plaster, I‘ve only just begun. The rocks will be attached to plywood and painted in natural rock tones. Here’s my twist. The background will be attached to the tank rear OUTSIDE the interior, possibly on the wall behind the tank. No worries about water contamination. No concerns gunk & algae & unidentifiable creatures will grow on my background or behind it. No tedious installation. A simple wipe down to clean glass in front of the background. No taking away surface bottom area.
Will it look as good as a traditional installation inside the tank? Probably not if you do a face plant. Will it look as good a few feet away and from across the room? Probably so.
