I know where you live
Note: Ram Cichlids are typically not great parents. They are notorious egg eaters. Though - if they are able to get them to free swimming stage, they do great!
In two separate tanks I have two separate pairs of Gold Rams that have bred in the past week! Attached is the picture of the clutch of eggs that are being defending from approx. 50 Apistogramma Cacatouides (1-1.5 inches long). They have been very sucessful in defending their clutch and due to the sheer numbers of apistos, they seem to be no worse for wear.
In my other tank the fry are free swimming but I didn't get a chance to snag a pic.
Additionally, my Dark Knight Rams laid eggs the other day but they ate them... sometimes it takes them 4-5 tries before they get the hang of it!
Sounds like my investment in 2 20 Long's and a Daphnia culture was a smart one - they arrive next week! It also sounds like I need to convert my 30g from an angel grow-out tank to overflow for fry.... =)
