I just bought him from the store a few hours ago and noticed he has a very large growth on his side. I was wondering if this was a tumor or something else. Is it possible to treat it? He seems very healthy otherwise.

It's important to observe fish you're intending to buy for exactly this kind of thing. My husband groans and makes sure he's got something else to do when I say I want to go to the LFS, because he knows I'm going to be in there at least half and hour just watching the fish!
I got him knowing he had this, just wasnt sure exactly what it was, since i havent seen anything like it before. I had stuff to treat him if it was treatable. Im going to keep him and let him live out his life in my tank instead of being thrown out at the petstore. Thank you for the help guys
