I have a 38 tall with some fish but I wanted to ask all the experienced people if angel fish are appropriate, I had asked a trusted friend and went with it but I’m getting worried it’s not big enough. Thank you for your time and I would love to hear your opinion on the matter

Short answer is, no, the tank is not spacious enough for angelfish. A group (they are a shoaling species) would very soon out-grow it, and need a 5 or 6-foot tank. Even then, squabbles among rival males are an issue, especially if a pair should form.

Depending upon the tank dimensions, a bonded pair might work.

Oh okay not looking forward to getting rid of them but the store will take them back. But I name all my fish and get attached so it’s sad

I have one that I got from a shop far do you think one could live there? It’s only half dollar ish size but there are other fish in there so maybe not.( other two are from local petsmart)

Hello. Depending on how many fish you have in your tank and the kind of fish you have it “might“ be possible. If your tank is tall like mine which is 23 inches tall you can fit one angelfish and some Cories. You could also fit 2 angelfish if they are a pair and you are lucky enough to find someone selling a bonded pair.
Just so you know I had 2 angelfish in the beginning but I found them a new home when one was chasing the other relentlessly and I replaced them with 3 pearl gouramis and 2 Bolivian Rams which I enjoy watching a lot more. It’s terrific viewing when you have a tank of happy fish.

Also online it says that four can go in 29?

oh okay my tank is same hight and my two angels are not mean to each other but when I added the smaller one they where both picking at him, other than that they all seem happy, just grazing and such

Thanks for the reply though I will be rehoming The two bigger ones and I’m going to attempt one with my other fish but I will probably end up getting rid of them too. I really like this new baby angel it’s so unique

Keep a close eye on them and start considering some rehoming, trouble will come. The only thing that will work as far as my experience and research is conserned is one bonded pair or a single angelfish.

Also also I used to have two Bolivian rams but the one I had was so mean, unless I bought a one eyed Cory but I’m pretty sure he took it. He just was not nice, I don’t think I want another one. Although I’ve heard they are docile so maybe I got a mean one

They can be very mean if they are protecting their female and territory.

I always do and thanks for the reply I will definitely be getting rid of the two. But I have the one small guy I will try and keep, although rehoming is always an option and easier with him cause he’s a unique one

Oh maybe I got a pair, but I ended up getting rid of one cause they didn’t get along, I honestly think that was just a mean fish cause even when the other was gone he was a problem, I love Corys and he attacked my corys often that’s why I got rid of him. One attack on a Cory is too many, they are so nice

I love corys as well, I have pandas and salt & pepper. Good move reforming 2 and keeping the special one. Post a pic I would love to see him.

I thought I should show him I’m curious to know if it actually is. I was kind of ignorant saying It’s unique as I have no experience with angels other then these three

Thats funny I just did and I have those two types as well😂 love them both, they are so fun to watch always so busy, although I have two deformed pandas out of my six, one is like a z and the others whiskers are so wonky but it looks kind of cool and I’m a sucker for a fish that’s unique so I have been keeping them
