Searching for an old filter media

You might see if your lfs has any, if there are not any members near you. Early in my fishkeeping days I had a cycle crash and they gave me a couple handfuls of gravel out of a tank. I dropped that into my filter and it helped restart my cycle.

Do you have another tank? I have moved cycled filters from one tank to another. Thinking the substrate had sufficient BB. The relocated filter was too big anyway for a tank that contained a single betta

If you have another tank use some filter media from that to kick-start the cycle. Adding a handful of cycled gravel help to. This will not intant cycle the tank, it will only make it a few days to a week shorter.

Would I be right in that you've got a new tank, with plastic plants and you're now trying to cut corners and stick fish in asap?
