You said the tank is a biorb, but as I can see straight edges, it's obviously not one of the spherical tanks. It looks like a Biorb Flow with the solid white side and rounded corners, and as you have realised, this isn't the best shape for cherry barbs. *
Live plants will be restricted with a biorb because of the the substrate, but floating plants and plants attached to decor can be used.
